Born and raised in Saratoga, California, Dr. Jeffrey Kliman has followed the development of Silicon Valley since his childhood. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA in psychobiology in 1984 and went on to complete his medical degree at the UCLA School of Medicine in 1988. After medical school, he completed his General Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Kliman returned to the Santa Clara Valley in 1993 where he began his thriving practice with Dr. James Mayfield Harris. Dr Harris was a pioneer in the field of Sports Medicine and founding member of the American Society for Sports Medicine, acting as the team physician for many college and professional sports teams.
Dr. Kliman continues this tradition treating many complex sports injuries, overhead throwing injuries and repetitive overuse injuries in athletes of all ages. He specializes in advanced arthroscopic and open techniques involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee and ankle.
Dr. Kliman treats complex fractures involving all parts of the body with both nonsurgical and surgical techniques.
He is also a regional specialist in performing Anterior MIS Total Hip Replacements and muscle sparing MIS Total Knee Replacements. He has one of the largest and longest experiences in performing Anterior MIS Hip replacements in Northern California. He has used this technique continuously since 2004, performing over 1500 of these cases with his associate, Dr. John Parker.
Dr. Kliman is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Kliman loves the outdoors and is an active hiker, snowboarder and skier. He enjoys playing golf, tennis, and running. He coached youth Little League Baseball for nine years and AYSO soccer for ten years. He is the team physician for Los Altos High School.
